diskpart on my PC errors out with I/O device error when I try to create a partition or convert to GPT or MBR. Disk Management errors out with the I/O device error when I try to initialize. So I thought fine, I'll hook this up to my PC and just format it there. Errored out with "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.". So, I tried using diskpart to convert the drive to GPT since this is a UEFI mobo. It simply told me that it was unable to do so, and that "your PC may not support booting from this drive". Initially I ran through the win10 setup and tried to format/partition the SSD from the wizard. He claims win10 has been installed and just won't boot, but I have since determined that to be incorrect. Well, now it's just been problem after problem where he cannot get windows installed or cannot get it to boot. I left him to his own devices to get win10 installed since I had somewhere to be shortly after assembling the parts, but since windows installations are pretty straightforward I figured he'd complete that with ease. I recently did a budget PC build for a family member.
